Fort Lauderdale

Back in the day everyone the least bit familiar with Fort Lauderdale knew it was THE place for spring break. From hitting the beautiful sand beaches to stuffing yourself into the craziness of the beachfront Elbow Room everyone wanted to be like the kids in the movie that had it’s world premiere in Lauderdale’s Gateway Theater – “Where the Boys Are.”

Well, those places are still there along A1A but the city is much more sophisticated nowadays. Much more. Luxury hotels abound. World-class golf courses await. Cruise ships set sail. Sport fishing is at its best. Great restaurants, original art and unique shops are all part of a memorable stroll down the elegantly tree-lined street that is Las Olas Boulevard. Just taking the water buses around the extraordinary Intercoastal Waterway, where you marvel at extravagant homes and multi-million-dollar yachts, is worth the trip to Fort Lauderdale.
