It happened on one of those days when Larry Wamble and some of his buddies had nothing in
particular to do, so they started making the rounds. It turned into one of those
great "spontaneous" fun days where nothing is planned . . . it just happens.
Later, they wound up on the Square gazing up at the dimly-lit Courthouse
and into the brightly-illuminated windows of Square Books. They bounded up the stairs at
the Downtown Grill and City Grocery. Then, while making the steep climb from The Gin back
up to check out the band at Proud Larry's, one of the girls said, "Wouldn't it
be nice if all the places we liked in Oxford were all next door to each other on the
Square. It would be the perfect block!"
A Rebel Revelation.
Larry added his slogan from his own student days: "We May Not Win
Every Game . . . But We Ain't Never Lost a Party," and this wonderful print was
created. The Perfect Block to remind us all of memorable times spent with cherished
friends.
"I was delighted to return home from my visit to Oxford
with your beautiful print and memories of my favorite place in the world . . . Archie and
I will find a special place for your handsome work. It's simply wonderful."
